Oscar Night

That's right friends...it's Oscar Night, which can mean only one thing for this blog....predictions!
As my friends and I are celebrating this night with all of our favorite stars [except Zac Efron... your cute smile that make all the young ladies swoon will not get you a date with all the real actors] we're going to be crossing our fingers and praying that if God cares anything about the Oscars or outlandishly rich movie stars that he will let these next few people win.

Johnny Depp for Best Actor. Good-ness, how many time will they dangle the Oscar above his head? Give the man a break and give him the Oscar he deserves. However, being the cruel people the Academy are they will probably give it to Daniel Day Lewis, or if they're playing politically... George Clooney.

Ellen Page for Best Actress. This is my longshot pick, but exactly how much better does she need to get? She made this movie completely phenomenal... "Thundercats a go!" anyone? Cate Blanchett will most likely steal it away with her little British conquistador hands.

Cate Blanchett for Best Supporting Actress. Irony, right? I'll give her this one though.

Art Direction...definitely got to give this to Sweeney Todd, can Tim Burton touch anything that doesn't turn to...darkness?

Song in a Musical- Once. Loved this little movie. Very talented artists in it, adn they definitely deserve this more than Enchanted. 3 noms? Seriously?

Best Picture- Me, oh My how I would love for this to go to Juno, but... it won't. Atonement or No Country for Old Men will most likely gallop up on its giant steed and whisk Oscar away into the sunset.

{proof}

I have a relatively offbeat kind of sense of humor.
I admit this.
And apparently that's the first step to recovery.
But when it comes to my house, I enjoy having those odd commodities that no one else has... thi is my proof.

First, The Terrorist Teapot.
I'm an avid tea drinker. Love of tea is just one of those charming aspects of my southern upbringing, [in addition to ridiculous phrases]
Some may seem this kind of thing as offensive, but me being quirky, I find it highly amusing and creative.

Now this next piece, could be my favorite. A Bench made out of pencils... it doesn't look entirely too comfortable, but how wicked would it be to have in your house?

Now this next thing... I plan on building myself... and i can't believe I hadn't thought of it yet.
Ping Pong Door. Ingenius.

PennyPincherness is next to Godliness

My favorite thing about holidays is not the celebration, gathering of family and friends, or the excitement of exclusivity and tradition that surrounds just one day [granted these things are all wickedly awesome] but my favorite thing about the holidays is the day after. oh yes, the day after.

I know that I may be completely alone in my opinion on this one [especially since a certain emotional dishearten-ment typically follows holidays] but i have officially dubbed myself the champion for the lonely, often forgotten days that live forever in the shadow of great holidays.

For instance Feburary 15, many people have let this wonderful day slip away from their agenda book because of all the hoopla that encompasses its earlier friend. I, however, love this day even more than the "Day of Love" itself. Why, you might ask? Well...candy becomes 1/2 price. Oh, yes, my beloved heart-shaped sweetarts that come around but once a year reach the all time low price of just $.75. Which means, I now have 8 bags of these tasty treats to last me until next Valentine's Day.

a place called 2nd

Tonight I find myself 2nd.

Again.

It seems I have begun to make this a habit, and I am beginning to wonder if it is because I'm afraid of first place. First place seems so final, so set. Once you have gotten first place, there's nothing else to win. You've become the best you can be, and can only retreat downward. Maybe that's what I'm doing- retreating- to second, someplace that's comfortable and familiar.

I'm used to this place.
It knows me, and I it.
